L'Oreal Elvive Nutri Gloss Shine Shampoo and Conditioner Review

L'Oreal Elvive Nutri Gloss Shine Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and are having a good week. Today's post is a review on the Elvive Nutri Gloss Shine shampoo and conditioner by L'Oreal Paris.

The packaging is slim line and a mixture of baby pink and hot pink. This is probably what first made me pick up this product, you all know I love a bit of pink.. I just can't resist!

These products are most suited to mid to long dull hair. I wouldn't necessarily describe my hair as being 'dull' but I do love to add an extra bit of shine and these products promise that through their mirror shine which is enriched with pearl (sounds gorgeous, right?!) . This formula is said to illuminate and smooth the hair's surface for better light reflection and mesmerising shine. I wouldn't go quite as far as saying these products achieve 'mesmerising shine' but they certainly leave my hair feeling silky soft, smooth and glossy. A number of people have even commented on how healthy my hair looks after using these products. This is also due to the 'cashmere touch' of the formulation which is concentrated with protein to help nourish every hair fibre for glossy, irresistible cashmere softness from root to tip.

I love the way L'Oreal have described the effects of this shampoo and conditioner, it sounds fun and more appealing than simply saying 'it adds shine'. I also love the finish it gives my hair and the floral, perfumed scent that lingers throughout the day is amazing! My hair is pretty fussy when it comes to shampoo's and conditioners so it means it can be very prone to frizzing if it doesn't 'like' a certain product or if I use it too regularly and it gets used to it. So, overall, i'm very impressed with this shampoo and conditioner combination and I would definitely buy them again.

What is your favourite shampoo and conditioner at the moment? Does you hair ever get 'fed up' of your shampoo and conditioner like mine does?

Raspberry Blush Nails

Raspberry Blush Nails

:: RASPBERRY BLUSH NAILS ::

The nail varnish I am reviewing today is no.402 Urban Purple in the Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish range priced at £4.59 at Boots in the UK.

I'm really into these dark autumn colours now the nights are getting dark and we're leading up to Christmas and this is definitely a favourite of mine. The shade I would describe as being deep raspberry rather than purple like the name suggests.

The formulation of this nail varnish is perfect for me. It isn't too thin so you don't need to apply more than two coats to get great coverage but it also isn't so thick that it ends up just peeling off your nails. The brush is also great. It is the maxi brush which means it is wide and designed with a anti-fade colour system. It makes for easy, smooth and quick application.

Since buying this nail varnish I've used it on several different occasions and have found the results to be consistent every time. Although, one negative point is that I do find it chips pretty easily, even with a generous helping of top coat. As the packaging claims it would last up to ten days and is 'long lasting, chip resistant and anti-fade', I would have expected a lot more from this product. Within 24 hours I had several chips which was very disappointing and has put me off using this polish for certain occasions.

Trevor Sorbie Volume Thickening Leave In Conditioner Review

Trevor Sorbie Volume Thickening Leave In Conditioner Review

Today we will be looking at the Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Volume Thickening Leave-In conditioner. This product is most suited to fine/flyaway hair, neither of which I really have but I love trying out volumising products as I hate having flat, limp hair!

This leave-in conditioner boasts it has a lightweight formula, which adds all day volume with heat protection and shine enhancing technology. I have mixed views about this claim. Firstly, I find that the formula is lightweight if used sparingly. When I've used too much it has made my hair very sticky and flat.... not good! So if you use this product be very careful of how much you are applying. I tend to do two sprays per section (I use large sections) and I have long hair. I don't ever apply this product to my roots.

As for shine.. I don't feel it is fair for me to comment either way on this point as I use several other shine enhancing products on my hair. It's too hard for me to tell if this one adds shine or not unless I use it in isolation for a period of time.

Lastly, volume. I do find this product makes my hair fuller but it has been harder to get a smooth, sleek look. Saying that, I think it would be unfair to say this product is the sole cause, if at all. The weather has been/is pretty awful lately and as I've got naturally curly hair it's prone to frizzing and losing that 'just straightened' look anyway. This product is great to use when curling your hair, though.

The smell of this product is gorgeous. It has a really perfumed fragrance which I have found lingers on my hair even the following day I have used it. Some people may not like this but I love it when my hair still smells fresh and clean the following day after washing as I don't wash my hair on a daily basis (my hair just doesn't need it!)

Another great aspect of this product is the heat protection. I use heat on my hair almost every day so the more I can protect it the better. I use this in addition to a heat protector spray. Here's a review on the one I'm currently using: Vo5 Heat Protector Spray.

I will finish using up this product but I won't be in a hurry to re-purchase. By that I don't mean that I never will, I just won't in the near future.

What are your recommendations for leave-in conditioner?

Lush Luxury Pud Bath Bomb Review

Lush Luxury Pud Bath Bomb Review

Lush Luxury Pud Bath Ballistic

Lush Luxury Pud Bath Ballistic

Luxury Pud looks pretty unique when compared to other bath bombs in Lush due to the colours and design.  The gorgeous white and purple background combined with random colours and a pretty holly make it stand out and leaves you with no doubt this is part of the limited Christmas range *sob sob*.

I wasn't too sure what to expect from this bath bomb as it is actually the one product I don't like to research before buying.  The reason being, that I love the surprise you get when it plunges in the bath and Lush in particular are great at making their bath bombs really different from one another so you're never sure exactly what you're going to get.  Without doubt, I think Luxury Pud has got to be one of the prettiest of them all.  I never expected the beautiful explosion of colour in the bath when the pud hit the water.  The swirls of colour entwine and the ball breaks into different pieces so the colours fizz separately before merging into a gorgeous deep raspberry pink shade.

The scent of Luxury Pud is also lovely.  It has hints of Lavender so is soothing and relaxing making it the perfect bath bomb to use before bed but the scent is not overpowering in any way.  The aroma does fill the bathroom and it does linger on the skin for a short time but it is by no means offensive and I think even those who are not lovers of lavender would enjoy this treat.

You can buy the Luxury Pud bath bomb from Lush for £3.40.

What do you think of this bath bomb?

Aussie Luscious Long Leave-In Conditioner Review

Aussie Luscious Long Leave-In Conditioner Review

I have long naturally curly hair that has to suffer heat on a regular basis as I am always straightening or curling it (naughty, naughty). Due to this I like to make sure my hair is as protected as possible by using heat protector sprays, conditioners and nourishing oils. Therefore, as well as using a conditioner in the shower I always like to add a little extra by using a leave-in conditioner too.

Aussie is a brand I love to use on my hair whether it be for treatments, shampoo's or conditioners. I have been using the Luscious Long leave-in conditioner for around a year now and I love it. It smells amazing and does what it says on the bottle - conditions my hair. The formulation is light so doesn't weigh my hair down and is evenly distributed over my hair so I can get a good coverage. It is suitable to use on both dry and wet hair from root to tip although I am careful about how much I use as I find it can leave a sticky residue if I am a little too generous with the application.

The Aussie leave-in conditioner includes Australian Eucalyptus extract (I can't help but picture a cute Koala munching on a leaf whenever I read that) and avocado oil which is nourishing, helps to de-tangle and protect hair from heat. After using this conditioner my hair is left soft, smooth and smells lovely! It also seems easier to tame as tangles are reduced and it doesn't frizz as much when drying which is always a good thing. This product also lasts a very long time. I must of had the 250ml bottle for a least 6 months now, if not longer and I still have around half left which is brilliant. Even though I use it every time I wash my hair and occasionally on dry hair too you don't need to use that much so this product is really great value. This is a Aussie product I will be definitely be repurchasing again.

You can buy the Aussie Luscious Long leave-in conditioner from Boots for £4.49.

What do you think of Aussie products? Have you tried this one?

Autumn Lip Products

Autumn Lip Products

Autumn is here and it is the perfect time of year to start wearing those gorgeous berry and red shades. Here are some of my favourites:

MUA Lipstick in Shade 6

Priced at only £1 MUA lipsticks are amazing value for money and are available in a variety of colours. Shade 6 has beautiful deep red/berry tones lwith very subtle gold flecks.

MAC Lipstick in Rebel

Rebel has been a favourite of mine for around a year now. It's a gorgeous deep pink berry shade and is perfect to wear on dark evenings to brighten up any look.

MUA Lipstick in Shade 1

MUA Shade 1 is very similar to shade 6 but feels a little heavier, has a slightly darker, richer tone and a more matte finish. There is still a slight shimmer there but not so much making the colour a little more intense.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush

Crush is a deep purple/pink balm/stain which gives a pretty sheen to the lips. This Kissable Balm Stain lasts on my lips for hours even after eating and drinking although the colour does fade. The best way to wear this is to apply a little and press your lips together as if you use too much I have found it can go patchy after a while.

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Jam

Plum Jam is a combination between a gloss and a balm. The finish is sheer so is perfect for people who don't like a bold lip or are new to wearing berry and red tones. The colour is buildable too so if you want a little more colour you can get it but it will never be as strong as the lipsticks mentioned above. Plum Jam is also very moisturising on the lips and looks great both on it's own and over other lip products.

Which is your favourite?

Rimmel Stronger Base Coat Nail Polish Review

Rimmel Stronger Base Coat Nail Polish Review

Everybody needs a base coat to help protect their nails from the constant change of nail polish and so on... if you think about it our nails go through an awful lot. I don't know about you, but I change my nail polish at least once a week and it does make me wonder what the harsh chemicals are doing to my fragile nails because of the constant stripping of varnish and reapplication.

My nails grow very quickly but I find they break easily because they are very flexible and bendy. I find if I catch the corner of one it will always break leaving me with uneven looking nails which I hate. Due to this I have tried a variety of products to try an strengthen my nails so when I was looking for a new base coat I was keen to try and find something that help stop my nails from breaking so easily.

The product that jumped out at me was the Rimmel Stronger Base Coat. This pale pink tinted liquid is said to:

Dry harder
Double duty base coat
Strengthen
Protect

It seemed this base coat had everything I needed and would also save me time as I wouldn't need to apply a strengthener as well as a base. However, after using this base coat for a year or possibly even longer I haven't noticed a difference at all. Whilst the Rimmel Stronger Base Coat does protect my nails well against colour, unfortunately, it hasn't made any difference to the strength of my nails. This is really disappointing as I have used this product on a regular basis for a long period of time so I would have expected to see good results.

The Rimmel Stronger base coat has lasted ages. I am still using the same bottle I bought all that time ago and I still have the majority of it left. If you're looking for a good base coat then I would definitely recommend this one. It does it's job and doesn't have that horrible, strong chemical smell some varnishes have but if you are looking for something to strengthen your nails this product isn't the one.

What products do you use to strengthen your nails?
